Each year the Musselshell Helitack crew is involved with the planning and implementation of aviation projects in support of the Clear/Nez zone’s resource and fire management needs. This includes simple projects like slinging sapling trees to remote planting sites and stocking remote lakes with fish, to more complex missions like flying bridge stringers and timbers, setting large repeater platforms, and aerial mulching.
Some of our projects completed in 2006 were stocking lakes on the North Fork Ranger District with Tiger Muskie, flying materials into Liz Creek Cabin on the Lochsa RD, and aerial mulching with wood straw on the Pleasant Fire of 2003 for the Powell RD.
