Liz Creek Cabin

Our second project of 2006 was to fly building materials from 12 Mile Saddle to the Liz Creek cabin on Weitas Creek. This type of project is a common one for the crew. There are many old structures throughout the zone in need of restoration or repair, which require a variety of materials and tools to accomplish. Many of these buildings are in remote locations where delivery of such items by vehicle is impossible. There are pack strings available, but are more often utilized in wilderness areas and are not practical for such large amounts of cargo.  Moving cargo by helicopter is often the quickest and most cost effective delivery method.

Eight thousand pounds of materials and equipment was delivered in 7 trips (2 loads were doubles) and flight time totaled just 2.0 hours.
